The only requirements for CenterStage membership are passage of a simple audition, willingness to seriously commit to a full performance season including all performance events and the fall show, and attendance at rehearsals. No annual membership fee is required from members, but tax-deductible donations are accepted any time.
The serious commitment we make when we’re preparing for the fall show or for a performance engagement, is an acceptance of the group’s goal of producing musical programs of the highest quality. Practicing together as often as possible and fully participating in all performances, scheduled rehearsals, and retreats are viewed as essential to attaining that goal. Our rehearsal attendance policy permits a member to participate in a performance only if he or she has attended the majority of the rehearsals of the music being performed.
Choir and Band Rehearsals
Each year, we begin our season with a four-hour Saturday retreat for choir members as an opportunity to get a running start on the new music for the next fall show. All CenterStage members are then encouraged to join the choir after this retreat for a potluck lunch and the Annual Meeting. This potluck was an opportunity to emphasize and facilitate the social nature of our group. The 2008 season retreat was held on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Regular choir weekly rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Once Band rehearsals resume, they are usually held on Sunday nights from 6:30-8 p.m. All rehearsals are currently held at 500 S 38th Avenue, Wausau, WI. These rehearsals are critical so that we can be well prepared when it's time to perform. So choir members know what to expect well in advance, the choreography schedule is made available as soon as choreographers are hired.
Depending on the nature of the performance event, uniforms/costumes will be determined and announced as soon as a decision is made. Some uniform pieces are provided by CenterStage Band and Show Choirs Inc.’s Properties & Assets Committee on a check-out/return or replace basis. Costuming pieces not provided by CenterStage must be provided by individual members.
